Finnish scientists were stunned when they realized that they could predict which healthy person has the highest risk of death ,using the four main biomarkers in the body."The test of death " provides information about the healthy person which could die from any medical cause for the next 5 years.

According to the blood test, the people whose biomarkers were fine, although they were not suffering from anything, they were more likely to die for the period of 5 years.

" What is particularly interesting is that these biomarkers keep the risk of death from a variety of diseases such as heart disease or cancer. They seem to be the signs of weakness in the body ," said Dr. Johannes Ketunen from the Institute of Molecular Medicine in Finland.

Dr.Ketunen believes that in the future these measurements can be used to detect diseases at people who look healthy, but in fact they actually have a serious disease.

British Daily Telegraph explains that the biomarker is a biological molecule that is found in the blood, the body fluids or in the tissues. Biomarkers may predict abnormal process in the body,a condition or disease.

The level of the respective biomarker indicates the risk of disease of the patient or his response to treatment. For example, cholesterol levels are measured to determine the risk of heart disease.

Researchers studied blood samples from 17,000 healthy people, using more than 100 different biomarkers, and then the same people were monitored over the next 5 years. In this period 684 people died of various diseases, including cancer and cardiovascular diseases.Scientists have discovered that all the people who died had similar levels of the four main biomarkers.

It was albumin, alpha - 1 - acid glycoprotein, and lipoprotein citrate. These biomarkers are related to the functions of the liver and kidneys, infections and inflammation, energy metabolism and vascular health.

  1. How many of the study's participants died of a cause other than disease, such as suicide or accident?
