Modern day western diets largely comprise of high fat, high calorie, processed fast foods which have harmful effects on our health, fitness, weight and bodily functions. In order to rid our body of the effects of this unhealthy diet, we need to undergo a healthy diet and fitness regimen, with the aim of strengthening the body’s digestive system and general health.

Healthy Diet

It is important to determine your calorie requirement and thereafter cut back on your calorie intake so as to lose weight. Counting calories is a good way of ensuring that you eat enough. A well balanced and healthy meal plan is essential for ensuring that your diet is beneficial to your health. Be certain that you eat the right amount of healthy and nutritious foods. Avoid eating food in quantities that are too small or too big. For instance, chicken breasts and other meats should not be larger than your palm. A good way to curb hunger is by eating several small meals throughout the day. Forget the three meals a day tradition and instead eat five times a day, every three hours as a way of effectively stimulating your metabolism. But eat less as the day goes on. If you fail to eat sufficient amounts of food, your body will think that it is starving, and will begin to conserve fat. And if you eat too much of the wrong foods, you will also gain weight. Where possible, eat only organic foods and maintain a well balanced diet that includes foods such as fish oils and flaxseeds. Some of the important foods to include into your healthy diet plan include fruits, vegetables, dairy, protein, carbohydrates, fats and liquids. Foods to avoid include certain types of carbohydrates, dairy and protein, high fructose corn syrup, caffeine and alcohol.

Fitness

Fitness training is a great way of increasing your life expectancy. Fitness experts recommend that we exercise a minimum of 3-5 times a week. Some effective methods of staying in shape include endurance training, aerobics, heavy and low-rep lifting, running and cycling. An early cardio workout is also great for not only boosting your fitness levels, but also your mood for the workday ahead. It is important to eat enough carbohydrates before and during your workout to enable you to work out more intensely thereby burning more calories. In order to achieve your fitness goals, you will need to have drive, determination and put in consistent effort. Find a professional personal trainer with proven experience to enable you to meet your fitness goals in building strength, losing fat, gaining muscle mass and enhancing your overall endurance. Any personal trainer will tell you that regardless of your fitness training goals, without eating a healthy balanced diet, you may not achieve them. Food is the fuel the body needs to reach its goals. Without proper nutrition achieved by consuming quality foods, the body is like to stall during fitness training. It is for this reason that diet and fitness go hand and complement one another in achieving optimal body health.
