New studies have shown that the root of ginger in the folk medicine is used in the treatment of colds and diseases of the digestive system,and also reduces muscle pain caused by practicing.

 

Researchers at the American University of Georgia have found that the daily consumption of ginger reduced the pain and muscle tension, which occurs after a hard workout.

The experiment included 34 and 40 volunteers.They used daily two grams of raw or heat-treated ginger or placebo therapy. After seven days of using ginger respondents were doing exercises for arms with weights to induce moderate muscle pain. Researchers have estimated the level of muscle inflammation before and three days after the exercise.

 
Research has shown that the seven-day consumption of fresh ginger reduced pain caused by training for 25 %,and consumption of heat-treated ginger for 23%.

For hundreds of years,ginger is used to relieve nausea,decrease swelling in the stomach and in the treatment of colds.It is proved that ginger powder kills ovarian cancer cells.To the numerous medicinal properties of this spice the impact on the reduction of pain in the muscles was added,which occurs as the most common complication of sport activities.

The research results were published in The Journal of Pain.
