What is Chronic Stress?

According to American Psychological Association, “stress is any uncomfortable emotional experience accompanied by predictable biochemical, physiological and behavioral changes”. And while acute (temporary) stress can be beneficial during work, because it will give you a much needed boost, chronic stress (prolonged periods under stress) is the worst possible thing that can happen to you and especially to your dating life. Stress causes you to change both physiologically and psychologically, and it has many adverse effects to your changes to get a date!

1. Changing Perception – is Your Potential Partner Really that Bad?

When you’re under a lot of stress, you’re bound to be more nervous than ever – and to have a different perspective about everything in your life. You’ll be annoyed by all the little things that you usually let slide, like long queues or unpleasant grocery store clerk. Of course, your social skills will also diminish and you’ll be increasingly annoyed with everything about your potential date. Take a step back and try to relax – your flirt is not going in the right direction because you’re too stressed.

2. Lack of Confidence

One of the adverse effects of stress is its effect on our confidence – you’ll constantly question yourself and always feel like you’re not living up to your own standards. One way to deal with it is to call the
Dallas chat line or some other phone dating service and have a good talk with someone new – that way you can relax and connect with people on your own terms.

3. Body Image Issues

This actually has its roots in hormonal response to stress – as the levels of cortisol rise your skin oil production increases and you will appear to be older than you really are. Of course, you need not be a rocket scientist to figure out how the fact that you’re becoming less attractive affects your chances of finding a date.

4. More Stress, Less Libido

As your stress levels increase, your libido will decrease – and then you’ll become trapped in the vicious circle of not having enough bedroom antics while desperately needing it. Needless to say, your confidence will experience additional drop, and you’ll feel even more miserable – so try to meditate, stay calm and try to charm win your date while you’re relaxed.

5. Health Problems and Stress

This one is a no-brainer: stress causes the risk levels for numerous cardiovascular and hormonal conditions to rise (sometimes to staggering levels) and that’s not a good thing – as your overall fitness and stamina deteriorate, you’ll feel worse every day and won’t be able to focus on getting a date.

6. Teeth? Skin? Hair? All Gone Down the Drain

Stress has a negative impact on your look, but your hair, skin and teeth are especially vulnerable. While you won’t turn into a toothless, hairless leper right away, this is a road you don’t want to take.

What to Do in the End?

Try to relax in any way possible: meditation and yoga can be a big help. And remember – your potential dating partner is not (always) the problem, you are!
