Most women are turning to natural ways of treating, pampering and maintaining their skin and turmeric which is very popular in India is getting wide acceptance due to its numerous benefits to the skin that include.
Turmeric has antibacterial properties that help fight pimple breakouts and give your skin a healthy look. It reduces inflammation and minimizes the production of oil from the sebaceous glands which are responsible for accelerating acne.
Skin pigmentation reduction
It clears the scars left by pimples, acne or scars, stretch marks or any other skin pigmentation that you may have. Turmeric has whitening agents that do this, and that is why it is a favorite ingredient in skin whitening products. Mix it with cucumber or lemon juice and apply it for about 20 minutes and wash off.
Mask for oily and dry skin
This seems to contradict, but turmeric does both depending on your needs. For oily skin, one needs to add sandalwood powder and orange juice to turmeric as the mixture aids in the regulation of sebum production. In the case of dry skin, mix it with an egg white, olive oil and lemon juice as this helps with moisturizing the skin from the face to other parts like the knees and elbows.
Turmeric removes the signs of aging by exfoliating and removing dead skin cells. It can be combined with other different ingredients based on what you are targeting. To reduce wrinkles and fine lines you need to combine raw milk, tomato juice, rice powder and the turmeric and apply on the skin for 20 minutes and rinse with warm water. To eliminate dark circles that everyone agrees make you look haggard and several years older, mix turmeric with buttermilk and leave it for 20 minutes rinse with fresh water and you are good to go.
Facial hair removal
This is something that most women fight against, turmeric mixed with gram flour and applied on the face, inhibits the growth of the hair. This mixture can be used on other body parts but may take longer for results to be visible.
It is unsightly to have cracked heels as they like wearing open shoes and showing off the feet. Mix turmeric powder with castor or coconut oil (as they are very rich in moisture) and apply it on the heels 15 minutes before you shower.
Turmeric being an antiseptic helps manage skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis and poison ivy by minimizing inflammation and redness.
